FAQs

What is DTF?

DTF, or Direct-to-Film, is a versatile and modern printing method used to create high-quality designs on fabrics and other surfaces. The process begins with a digital design, which is printed onto a special film using water-based pigment inks. An adhesive powder is then applied to the wet ink and cured to form a solid adhesive layer. This prepared film is transferred onto the desired surface using a heat press, and the film is peeled away after cooling, leaving a vibrant and durable design. DTF is highly versatile, working on materials like cotton, polyester, blends, and even non-fabric items. It produces vivid, long-lasting results without the need for fabric pre-treatment, making it ideal for custom apparel, personalized accessories, and business branding.

Do I Have to Mirror My Design Before Uploading?

No, you do not need to mirror your artwork when uploading it.

What File Types Should I Use When Uploading My Artwork?

We don’t charge for any file or art setup, however, when uploading your art, the following file types are preferred.

SVG
PNG
PDF

PSD (Photoshop)
JPG

Uploading SVG files is ideal because they allow us to resize your artwork without any loss of quality. However, if you upload a file in PNG, JPG, or PDF format with a resolution of 300 DPI, we can still resize the image to your specifications without compromising its quality.

Which Materials Can DTF Printing Be Applied to?

DTF printing works on a variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends, and stretchy materials like spandex. It is ideal for light and dark textiles, creating vibrant, durable designs for apparel and accessories like t-shirts, hoodies, and tote bags.

How to Care for Products Produced with DTF Printing?

To care for products made with DTF printing, always turn the garment inside out before washing it in cold or warm water with a mild detergent, avoiding bleach or harsh chemicals. Air drying is recommended to preserve the print, but if using a dryer, choose a low-heat setting. When ironing, turn the garment inside out and avoid applying direct heat to the printed area; use a low-heat setting or place a protective cloth over the design. Additionally, avoid excessive scrubbing or stretching of the printed area to prevent damage. Following these steps will help maintain the vibrancy and durability of DTF-printed items over time.
